19 of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his first trophy for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has endured a challenging period, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately splitting with long-term coach Cervara.

Now working with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Moutet.

This represents his first title since the Rome competition and first on a hard court since March of that year.

Success also means Medvedev has won 21 championships at 21 different competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters together, so to win a championship is really nice," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six finals, featuring in that event earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching play style and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had led commentators to doubt if his skill to perform at the elite level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and play positively, backed up by an better service.

He came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors traded service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden professional title, gained dominance to push for a third set.

Moutet defended 4 early opportunities in a tight final set before the Russian broke to that score to serve for the match.

Suitably, Medvedev secured victory with a rally at the net area, with Moutet failing to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
